Hi all, So then, who were the dozens of cans of Vimto for?

I hope Jamie got to drink some of those! 4 for £1 in the pound shop, that's a good deal! Mind you if you go to Lidl you can get 5 cans of Coke for £1 (so I hear!) Idea . The tats gave it away Exclamation Long time no see. David

Beverage Preference : Snakebite - its a blast from the past!
Hiya Mate,

I would say that whatever gauge strings you are using, go up one when you tune to eflat - if you are on 9-42 go to 10-46. I'm using 11-50 for detuning and that seems to help keep a bit of bounce in your tone, kills your fingers though! I have a Line 6 in my studio and they are wicked but i would say if you are using one with a proper amp then make sure you turn off any speaker simulation on the line 6.

Feel free to email me direct if you ever want any opinions/advice about stuff like this - i'll send you my email.

Jame.

hey jamie Very Happy

i tried putting the dean into E flat, see how it sounds, its a really unique sound but where i have it going into a line 6 pod, my tone has changed a lot! lol im gonna try and set up something to suit the new tuning, any ideas?

would it be better through the amp without the pod? nothing beats your cornford lol

thanks

Haha, kill is a bit harsh but he could give you an awkward beat during a solo lol

i will keep an eye out for those films then. i met the guitarist in a band at a holiday camp in devon and he named his band after the film 'The lady killers'.

i noticed you're quite an active band, have you ever approached bigger venues, places like londons' Astoria, Rock City in Nottingham? maybe even holiday camps where people from all over the country get together?

'The lady killers' used to do quite well gigging on cruise ships to up to 1500 people... it was a bit of a holiday for them aswell.

Well, Mary Jayne featured a lot in one of our favorite films 'Half Baked' if you ever see it buy it - it's wicked!

As for The REASON i think its inspired by 'The Edge of Reason' which is a film that Ginger likes when he's having one of his girly nights in doing his makeup, having a pedicure and swooning over Hugh Grant!!! Very Happy Smile

He's gonna kill me when he reads this!

haha the doggers, imagine how many people would ask you 'what inspired that name?'
then again,

what inspired the names 'Mary Jayne' and 'The Reason'? (not why they changed cos thats posted on the main page)

Re: Yesterdays message at 13.40

What's the test? How do I pass? How can I study if I don't know what the test is about? I cannot fail. When is the test? Has it happened already? Does that mean I've failed? Please. God. Noooooo!

Oh...the message...I see now.

Hi, I hate to say this but I agree with Gerk. I was shocked and saddened at the news of this name change, in fact, I choked on my fruit and fibre. Having seen Mary Jayne at several venues I thought you had just started to establish a good following.....and a great drumkit. I just don't see the reissen. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a sultana

hey - just seen you have changed your name?! cant quite work out why? i kinda understand that people could think your a solo singer instead of a rock band, but does that mean people would think scissor sisters were 2 girls with scissors standing their singing?

I would have voted for a change to the Mary Jayne's. its cool and would have worked!

Sad

Hi Ross!! Glad you enjoyed it - we had a great time too although the fear of electrocution was a constant worry with all that water pouring through the roof!!!

I didn't know that's where Music Tek had moved to (I remember them from their days in Romford) - we'll have to check it out

I've got a song request! Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground by The White Stripes. I reckon you'd do a good rendition of that.
